Italy is said to be one of the most promising markets for the solar industry worldwide. The local industry is on the upswing, and also the international competition is on the rise. LDK Solar signs contracts in Italy

The Chinese company LDK Solar Co., Ltd., a manufacturer of solar wafers and PV products, announced the signing of two contracts with partners in Italy.

First of all, LDK signed a module supply contract with Italy-based Enel.Si S.r.l., a wholly owned subsidiary of Enel S.p.A. According to a press release, LDK Solar will supply Enel with LDK Solar branded modules with a total capacity of 50 MW. 30 MW will thus be deliverable in the current quarter. Both partners agreed on a 20 MW option in the fourth quarter of 2010. Another module supply contract was signed by LDK Solar and ABB SpA, an Italian subsidiary of ABB Group. LDK Solar will thus deliver 13 MW of solar modules in the third quarter of 2010. As anounced in the press release, a wider cooperation agreement is under negotiation to supply ABB with larger volumes in the remainder of 2010 and 2011.
